Slate is a 100% natural, sustainable and ecological material, which has a low environmental impact, not only due to its petrographic composition, but also because for his transformation process we use mechanical means and water, being free of any chemical product.

As an Eco-responsible Company, we do a lot of investments in the latest technologies that allow a more energy efficient production process, as well as in the recovery of biodiversity and the environment where our factories are placed.

SLATE ELABORATION PROCESS

EXTRACTION

When geological and mining studies confirm the suitability of the extraction area for slate production, rock extraction is carried out through the use of diamond thread. The obtained blocks will be transported by trucks to the processing factory for been processing.

The not useful extracted rock will be transported to sterile deposits, which will be recovered when they are no longer useful by using fertile soil and planting the usual tree species in the area.

SAWING

The large slate blocks are sawed t in blocks according to the sizes to be manufactured hrough the use of diamond discs and water, material needed for cooling discs.

During this process a special selection is made, so only the best part of the extracted stone is converted into blocks for later be splitted.

SPLITTING

Using traditional handmade exfoliating techniques, as well as the use of automatic exfoliating machines, the blocks are converted into thin slate sheets suitable for beveling.

CUTTING

Slate sheets are cut into machines in different sizes according to customer requests.

SELECTION AND PACKAGING

Although throughout the transformation process rigorous quality controls are carried out, it is in this moment when every one of our slates are selected by hand, one by one, by qualified professional experts from our quality department.

Classify each slate into different selections according to the criteria and requirements of the current regulations of each market.

The slate is then packed in wooden boxes, ready for storage

DELIVERY

Prior to loading the goods in trucks, each box is identified with a label, which contains all the information about the slates, ensuring that the customer has access to the complete traceability of the product.
